Twenty years ago, we got about 25% of our energy from renewable hydro. At that rate, it could be a century until we get to 50% renewables—if ever. And, if we stay on our current course, our greenhouse gas emissions will continue to rise forever. We can do better.
Setting the goal of Manitoba using 50% renewable energy by 2030 is important, but it’s not enough. A goal is not a plan.
The primary purpose of this website is to set out an achievable, ambitious roadmap to get us from where we are now to where we can be by 2030. Because we’re developing it with you and other members of our community, we call it “Our Green Plan“:
|Current Realities||reduce demand||increase efficiency||increase renewables||Examples|
|HEATING & COOLING|
The heart of our plan is a focus on the three uses we have for energy:
We think there are three types of action we need to take in each of these areas:
If you think what we’re trying to do is worthwhile, and you want to be part of making this vision a reality, join us.
